Celebrities Influenced By Their Fellow Celebrity Trash
Oh, wow, this article interview with Lindsay Lohan really got me thinking… it’s funny, because a
large part of my focus has been how Hollywood celebrity culture perversely influences your average person (with an emphasis on women)… what I sort of overlooked is that the actual celebrities are also deleteriously influenced by the very same celebrity culture which is their home niche. Why do I say that? Well, let’s take a look at a few things Lindsay says in her candid interview:
“Sex And The City changed everything for me because those girls would just sleep with so many people. And that’s me. I’m not dating just one person.”
Now, let’s think about this statement for just a minute… Sex and the City changed everything for me… Did I read that right? A major influence upon ones sexual life (which, ideally at least, means love life in the true meaning of the word love) is the throwaway HBO trash hit Sex In The City which details the frivolous fuck adventures of some aging, upper class bitches? Did I actually read that right?
Lindsay goes on to say:
It is the variety of partners everyone likes, especially at my age. I’m like Angelina Jolie, taking on lovers. I don’t need a steady relationship.
Once again we see her influence being a member of the celebrity class.
Well, Lindsay Lohan is a very young girl, and, I hope that she can mature past such a disturbing perspective. She’s got the world on a string: after all, she’s gorgeous, talented, rich, and famous… which, when considering her eating disorder and other ailments, only confirms that those things (fame, money, beauty, celebrity) etc., which many people think is the quick route to happiness, can quite easily lead to misery… of course, from my perspective, some sort of belief in a higher power (gasp, I know) is necessary for meaning… please, I’m not any type of Holy Roller, but through my own battles with addiction, I discovered that only God could lead me to the other side.
Lindsay, may you please find peace and happiness. And, certainly enjoy the entertaining programs found on television, but, please, don’t let it influence your pussy policy. Yes, that’s a funny little term of mine: pussy policy, but, what it’s about is developing a sensible and healthy framework for your sexual relations. I, too, love wild sex, but, I’m also aware of the diseases and the unhappiness that often results from a sexual union outside of a loving relationship. That doesn’t make me a prude friends. I’m simply talking about reality. I’m talking about trying to be happy. Just about all of us want that…
