Political And Celebrity Impressions Video
Hi Everybody,
I’ve been busy writing some chapters for the book concerning (what else?) how the celebrity aesthetic concept (female in particular) affects the average woman’s body image… this gets into what’s been called the body myth, and, it’s really quite interesting! I’ll be posting some drafts right here to the blog pretty soon.
For kicks and relaxation, I do surf around some of the video sites. In a recent post I was just very briefly touching upon the concept of political celebrity, and, when I saw this video of political and celebrity impressions, I thought it was quite apropos.
My first thought was if there was somehow some trickery involved in the making of this video. I know, cynical me, but, it does seem to be part of the times …. part of the zeitgeist if you will… okay, so I just can’t resist sliding a German word here and there….. a weakness of mine to be sure … and, on the topic of cultural cynicism: that’s something that I will have to blog about as well….
But, first it’s necessary to lay down the foundation for the way the female celebrity aesthetic has become such a deleterious influence, and, the only way to do that is by reviewing the various eating disorders and psychological maladjustments… and, I will be previewing my writings here in the blog in the coming weeks…
Anyway, back to the topic of the video… this young kid has got a lot of talent … truly.. he’s obviously young, so, it would appear he’s still developing… he can be a little hit or miss… but, he does impressionistically nail John Kerry, the entire cast of Napoleon Dynamite (brilliant), Sean Connery, Arnold, and, in a wacky way, Barry White.
This is worth taking a peek at (in my humble opinion). This young fellow of a comedian, who goes by the somewhat questionable moniker showmanRot, has got major talent, and, really, Jim Carrey has got absolutely zippo on him. I really don’t understand the appeal of Mr. Carrey, but, that can be the subject of another post… anyway…..
