How You Can Be Sure The World Is Cracked!

Well, I’m new to the blogging game, and, obviously WordPress provides some wonderful functionality: readers can post comments… and, that’s great; however, I’ve mostly been going through and deleting stupid nonsense that links to stupid nonsense.

For example, here’s a comment I received today (deleted, of course):

Now, just what sort of moron is responsible for this nonsense?

As some of you know, I’m on the verge of getting a doctorate in Cultural Studies, and, I’m writing about how the female celebrity aesthetic influences eating disorders in America; I’m considered an intellectual egghead type. I am not a computer genius. So, I contacted my friend Walter, who works for the IT Department of a robotic start-up of some sort. Truth is… I don’t know what he does, but, he knows computers.

He indicated that spammers send out automated “bots,” which drop these links etc. Okay, fine and dandy. I said, “Why would anyone click it?” He said, “The links improve search engine standings.” Okay, fine and dandy. That I can understand. But, how on earth does the text interracial dog fart improve search engine rankings? Why not just program in an ambivalent remark like, “that was a very interesting article. Thank you.” Well, he didn’t have an answer for that.

So, I went to my search engine of choice, which is MSN, because for a lot of academic esoterica (particularly the cultural aesthetics stuff) I like the results… now, Walter said MSN is owned by spammers, and that I’d be much better served using either Google or Ask. Okay, I nixed the MSN results and went to Google, and, I typed in interracial dog fart.

Now, to my surprise, this returned 569,000 results. Really! 569,000 websites are writing about interracial dog farts? What in the name of everything holy on planet earth is an interracial dog fart? Well, the number one result was for a site called blacksonblondes…. now, that is incredibly rich! Want to talk about pressing a button in our society and just broach the topic of miscegenation (which was actually illegal on the books until 1971… that’s a fact) … and, if you really want the fundamentalists to choke on their dentures, broach the topic of miscegenation in the context of a black male and a white woman …….wwwoooooeeeeee boy, this gets into some very visceral material, and, there’s a real historical basis that I can’t get into in a single blog post…

Anyway, the blacksonblondes site, in the Google listing, boasted having a complete dogfart archive… now, am I losing my fucking mind? Granted, I’ve lived a slightly sheltered existence, but, not that sheltered… I mean… I’ve been around a bit, but, just what the hell is going on with interracial dog fart business???

So, I clicked the link and was greeted with an ENTER option and a warning:

Now, there’s obviously a typo: it’s extremely… not extemely … but, I suppose if you’re a dog fart connoisseur in search of some high-quality dog fart content, you’re not that concerned with such a minor detail… In addition, there was a very lengthy disclaimer. Well, I didn’t want to enter!

I went back to Google and typed in “What is a dogfart?” The same damn site came up at the top of the list… so, I remembered Wikipedia, which I like; though, for strictly academic work I don’t trust it, as it’s community-edited, and, I’m skeptical of its standards. But, for dog fart research, it’s fine…anyway, a quick search in Wikipedia took me to a page called dog fart neutralizing thong, and, the article was designated a stub, meaning, no content I suppose..

So, I went back to the blacksonblondes and clicked their damn enter link…. I felt fairly queasy at the images on the site, which featured, for the most part, um, blacks on blondes… well, I came across this text:

Now, if I’m to understand that text correctly … well, I can’t actually say that I do understand that text … Can anyone solve this mystery?
