If A Black Comic Yelled “Kike! Kike!” Would Letterman and Seinfeld Hug Him Too?
Wow. This whole Michael Richards “N Word” story keeps getting stranger to me… I mean, I’ve watched it some more times, and, wow… doesn’t it have a twilight zone quality to it? And, get that Twilight Zone creepy music turned up a little louder when you see Richards’ apology on David Letterman. According to Richards, he’s “really busted up over this,” but, something about the tone of his voice strikes me as sort of strange. Richards says that anger, not racism, sparked his nutty vitriol…
You know, Katie is a “forgive and forget,” type of person… I’m not as forgiving I suppose. Particularly when the apology doesn’t seem sincere. Particularly when the apology seems like something out of the, um… Twilight Zone. Okay, if you have 7 1/2 minutes to spare, watch the whole pathetic and retarded David Letterman apology, which, apparently, was all Jerry Seinfeld’s idea … well, Jerry… Einstein, you are not…
Okay, first things first. Jerry Seinfeld… you know, I always considered you to be a pretty smart guy; however, I think it’s about time you got dubbed with your new nickname: “Shit-For-Brains Seinfeld.” How do you like the sound of that Jer? Really… I’m all for loyalty… but, to an extent! to an extent God damn it! Now, we all know you have more money than God All Mighty Seinfeld, but, damn, you know, this just might be the type of thing that you try and distance yourself from a little bit … This is an aspect of this story that really bothers me. David Letterman and Jerry Seinfeld seem a little too damn quick to “forgive and forget” Mr. Richards. As the readers over here know, we like to keep things real. And, in the spirit of keeping things real, I can’t help but wonder if a famous black comedian got up on stage and starting ranting about “JEW! JEW! KIKE! KIKE! HE’S A KIKE! HE’S A KIKE! SCUM … 60 years ago, you’d be getting your kike ass pushed into the oven…” Well, I can’t help but wonder if mainstream representatives like Mr. Seinfeld and Mr. Letterman would be so quick to forgive and forget? Ah, I see, that’s just the type of question that makes a few of our readers uncomfortable. Good. I like for you to be uncomfortable. It means I’m getting at a little bit of truth…
And, you know, bottom line is that Richards’ behavior was disgusting. This is a big world and there’s got to be room for everybody. Can you imagine how hurtful Michael’s words are to black folks who already have plenty of negative images and ideas and stereotypes associated with them in the mainstream media? Seinfeld, have you realized yet that you, also, used rather poor judgment?

But, he did apologize, and, he has humiliated himself already in the eyes of the world, and, his name is forever tarnished. And, Richards apologized to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. And, he killed Cosmo Kramer! And, much to Jerry Seinfeld’s unhappiness, his Seinfeld brand is forever sullied. And, there’s a lesson in there that we should all learn from: years and years of hard work and dedication can get all fucked-up by a bad evening. It’s the way the universe works. And, it’s powerful.
