Well, I just received this email, and, I may not agree with the idea, but, I do salute Gus for his creative thinking.

Dear Celebrity Satan Owner,

I think you guys got it wrong about Richards. See, the whole nigger thing was scripted. I’m certain of it. You see, Michael Richards couldn’t find any further success after Seinfeld ended. That’s a fact. Notice how he wasn’t in any big movies or good tv shows. Notice how in the comedy club video, the guys he’s insulting actually point this out to him…that all he had was Seinfeld.

The reason for that is because, it’s what they call type-casting. You see, everybody always had the whole Kramer doofus thing stuck in their heads whenever they saw Richards. That was stopping him from doing new stuff and acting new characters. And, it’s true… you look at that guy and you’re remembering Kramer busting down Jerry’s door and raiding the fridge.

Richards knew that the only way to ever shake that Kramer mental stereotyping would be to do something so despicable and outrageous that it could surpass the Kramer image that got cemented in people’s heads over the past 16 years… but, what could be outrageous enough to do that? A ha… the most extreme thing to fuck-up all this political correct shit in this country is to yell NIGGER! NIGGER! … and, that’s exactly what he did. And, that’s another part of why it shocked and fucked with so many heads and psychologies. Because people were like, “WTF … what’s Kramer saying???” And, soon as they had that thought, in that dramatic of a way, you know, that was “The Death Of Kramer.”

And, you notice, when Richards gave that apology on The David Letterman show, you know, were you seeing Kramer then? I sure wasn’t… I was seeing a sad and pathetic man. He broke the type-casting. Maybe the only way it could possibly be done too.

And, you also notice how high-quality that video on TMZ is??? You know, they’re saying that was taken with a cell phone. Well, I have a video phone, and, it doesn’t get near that high-quality footage. And, I did some research, and, I can’t come across any phone that gets that high-quality. Somebody in the audience was working with Richards, and, you notice how they had it right from the beginning… well, they were prepared! And, with a real expensive little video gadget that only celebrities could afford or have access to … and, they leaked it themselves to TMZ… I’m sure of it…

If you want to print this, I’m cool with that. And, I like how you guys write. Any chance I could write for you?

Like I said, I do, certainly, applaud Gus’ creativity. I like how his mind works. But, the part that didn’t make any sense to me was that even if Michael Richards did successfully break the Kramer association, he also negatively stigmatized himself, and, would make it probably pretty unlikely that anyone would want to hire him. I also believe Gus titled his email inaccurately, because, although his view is clever and creative, I’m not sure it qualifies as an actual conspiracy theory; however, it’s his title, and, it does have a ring, so, I emailed Gus, and, I asked him to respond to the problem about the negative stigmatization. Here’s his response:

Hi Katie,
I was really happy to hear from you. You’re so smart, I’m really flattered. About the whole negative stigma, see, that will die down with some time. That will fade. You know, there will be new stories and scandals and things and the real poisonous bite of Richards’ hate speech will lessen, and, what will be left is Michael Richards free of the Kramer connection. And, we’re a real forgiving nation. Especially if somebody says sorry. And, you see Richards already did that Letterman apology so fast… that way some of the negative stuff couldn’t really fully settle in… he already started to dispel it a bit… and, he’s going around calling Al Sharpton and apologizing, and, I imagine he’ll continue “making amends,” you know, and, believe me, the negative will fade out, and, in a few years, we’ll see this guy in big movies, and, we won’t be too much thinking about Kramer or the racial insults… I’m not saying we’ll forget them, but, it won’t be too sharp.
