Is Michael Richards Jewish And Does That Matter?
Like I said, this story has really got legs… that is.. this whole Kramergate Michael Richards name-calling comedy club tirade! And, it would appear it’s legs are a little bit stronger than I thought… I mean… I was originally thinking like, you know, some guy that jogs a marathon once a year, but, it’s turning out it’s more like Lance Flipping Armstrong! (Shouldn’t that be Lance Legstrong) Okay, shoot me… I cannot resist the uber corny joke… it’s a weakness of mine… anyway…
See, I spoke a little prematurely in the other post where I said that the analysis was over, and, it’s time for analysis of the analysis. Wrong! Over at The Huffington Post the topic is now whether Richards is Jewish or not, because, some people seem to feel that somehow changes the complexion of this story (and, they happen to be right!)
In fact, this speculation is now flying all around the web, and, some folks are saying he’s a Catholic, others are saying Jew, and, others yet are saying, that’s right, Free Mason! And, some are saying Free Mason Jew… well, I’m not saying anything. I don’t know.
But, about whether it matters or not… yes, it sure does matter… you know, when Richards said at The Laugh Factory that fifty years ago you’d be hanging upside down with a fork up your ass (or to that general effect) … the obvious retort, if Richards is indeed Jewish, would be, “Well 60 years ago you’d be getting your ass pushed into an oven so you could be made into soap.” I mean… you know, the Holocaust was also a rather terrible reality similar to the terribleness of the lynching that Mr. Richards referenced.
Well, that’s it… I better go to sleep… you know, some scraper type of scumbag has been putting all my writings up on his lousy site (no permission or credit of course), so, you know, this article was first published on Celebrity Satan by Katie Witherspoon.
Oh, yes, the other semi-new layer to this story is that Cosmo’s hired somebody to help him through this crisis… yes, nothing like a crisis helper to try and soften some pretty enthusiastic hate speech. Well, we wish you luck Howard Rubenstein!

That comment you make about throwing Jews in the ovens and making them into soap is stupid and extremely offensive.

Hi Wluky,
I agree that the hypothetical response referenced is offensive: just as the Richards’ “nigger” remarks were offensive… just as any hate speech is offensive. It doesn’t matter to me whether or not the hate speech is directed against black folks, Jews, or Eskimos. All hate speech is repulsive and contradicts Christ’s teachings.
There is considerable web speculation of whether or not it was relevant if Richards was Jewish or not. The purpose of this post is to argue that it is, indeed, relevant; because, if so, there would be a sad irony in a member of a group that had generations past been brutalized belittling the humanity of the member of another group whose ancestors generations ago had also been brutalized.

Maybe his ethnic background is relevant to you but it is irrelevant to me. The only importance are the individual, not the group, whether he is Jewish, Protestant, Catholic, Freemason, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, et al…
Michael Richards made some very dumb, racially offensive remarks. Under the guise of speculation or whatever bizarre rationalization, you have also made some equally dumb and racially offensive remarks.
In any event, this whole speculative debate is being used by bigots to further advance their racially motivated and hateful cause.
