More Problems With Seinfeld Dvd Statistics
In addition to the info in this post, let’s put our thinking caps on for a second.
Okay, granted there are the glaring problems with the New York Post’s headline:
‘SEINFELD’ SOARS ON RACIST RANT
So, the obvious suggestion is that the purported increase in Seinfeld dvd sales is a result of the Laugh Factory racial spew. Superficial investigation indicates they’re basing their conclusion on a few online retailers. And, we see no mention of major brick-and-mortar outfits like Best But, Circuit City, etc. etc.
Okay, we’ve gone over that below, so, we’re already aware of glaring problems in their data and analysis. (Though, we do appreciate it makes for a good headline!)
But, there’s another reason why the dvd sales would rise in their limited sample of online retailers. Simply, some people, who aren’t letting the news story influence their desire to purchase the Season 7 dvd, are just embarrassed to be seen buying it. Now, that’s a speculation, but, to me at least, it has a quality of a real “Ah ha!” moment… it just makes sense!
There’s now, it would seem, a certain stigma involved with the purchase… that’s to say, controversy. If Suzy bumps into neighbor Mandy, and, Suzy’s got a Seinfeld dvd in her hand… the record just stopped.
Mandy: “What dvd are you getting?”
Suzy’s kind of quiet and reluctantly holds up dvd.
Mandy: “Oh, how … how… nice.”
Suzy: “It’s not for me… it’s for um, um, um… ”
Mandy: “Okaaaaaay. See you at PTA!”
Yes, guys, it makes sense…
