Richards Set To Apologize To Men He Yelled At
Well, this has been in the works via Gloria Allred, and, now we see that Michael Richards is going to apologize in-person to the four men who were the targets of his Laugh Factory meltdown.
And, you know, sometimes it really hits me just how backwards we are as a civilization. Look at the first sentence from this newspaper’s report:
Michael Richards will apologize in person to the four black men he targeted in a tirade of racial slurs during a recent comedy club performance.
The part that strikes me is the four black men. This is how we refer to each other. We refer to each other with a color label. 2006 and this is as far as we’ve gotten: misnomer color labels that are inappropriate to begin with, but, if we are going to go that route; this terminology doesn’t even begin to incorporate our scarcely-talked-about history of miscegenation.
Oh, well…. this is where we are currently at … and, now it’s time to pull the fat wallet out.
