I was looking over the list of searches by which people found this site. It was very interesting, though, I suppose not surprising, to see that many surfers found CelebritySatan.com by searching for Britney Spears Without Panties or some similar variant of that query.

I’ve seen similar patterns with the Jessica Simpson’s tits query. And, all of this leads me to wonder about this world wide web of ours… It’s wonderful, and, like many complex innovations, it defies a simple definition or characterization. The body of web surfers is certainly not monolithic.

Yet, the fact remains that a lot… and, I mean a lot of folks are searching for Britney’s pussy and Jessica’s tits. A lot of people! And, this site has been and will continue to be a learning experience. The idea was to demonstrate the negative effect Hollywood celebrity culture has on the world, and, in particular, the female population in respect to body image and resulting problems like anorexia, body image, and other disorders.

And, the topics have branched out since several of my peers started writing over here as well.

But, it is becoming increasingly clear that so many people are fixated on specific body parts of particular female celebrities. Now, I realize that’s not a profound statement necessarily; nor is it a conclusion that is difficult to reach. But, when seeing the exact phrases used to find this site (and seeing the repetitions and thematic preponderance), it adds a new level of reality to this world.

And, I feel more convinced than ever that this trashy celebrity culture, which originated right here in America, via the Hollywood vehicle, is causing much harm, and, it needs to be rigorously examined, and, it needs to change.

It is our hope that this site will stimulate some thought on this crucial and fundamental reality and danger. We hope that you, too, either are writing or will write about the influence celebrity culture has on everyday people, and, in particular young people.

Over at Digg, which is a site I like a lot, somebody responded as such to my Britney article:

Don’t like her genitals? Then don’t look at her genitals!!!

While I appreciate the spirit behind that little message, the author, I think, is overlooking that some of us have children… and, some of those children are daughters. God knows that we do the best we can with our daughters, but, we can’t be with them every moment of the day, and, yes, we talk to them… we talk to them all the time about female identity and self-esteem and finding a happy path through life. Of course we do.

But, do not… I repeat, do not underestimate the power of celebrity culture. A lot of girls around the age of ten look up to Britney Spears… actually, that’s putting it too mildly.

A lot of girls think of Britney Spears as their heroine princess, and, these girls (you better believe!) take note of Britney Spears: they look at her clothes, make-up, hair, eyelashes, shoes, smile, demeanor, etc. And, if she’s being photographed without panties on, yes, they notice that too!

The thing about role models is… you remember the Charles Barkley “I’m not a role model” Nike commercials? Well, he was wrong, and, anyone who’s realistic realizes that. All of these enormous sports figures and celebrities are role models: whether they like it or not. It goes with the territory, and, if you don’t want the responsibility, don’t enter the arena of fame and celebrity: sort of reminds me of Cameron Diaz’ ridiculous battles with the paparazzi.

What we’re seeing in these attitudes is a characteristic of our time: the desire to have everything and to have it with no responsibility… and, that’s just so distasteful! So distasteful! These folks want the fame, adoration, fans, financial fortunes, etc, but, they don’t want the inconvenience of being responsible for their actions. Unfortunately, a lot of average people are impressionable and … well, not exceedingly intelligent… and, they (with an emphasis on young folks) look up to these celebrities… and how couldn’t they?

Through the movies, commercials, magazines, billboards, and interviews, they are being trained to look up to these celebrities. And, some celebrities are spectacular, and, they use their influence in positive ways. And, many do not. But, it’s not enough for a celebrity to take an attitude of “I’ll do what I please. I’m not a role model.” Yes, you are a role model! You are a role model whether you like it or not!

And, that goes for you too Britney!

And, while that thought sends an icy ripple through my body, it’s the truth. So, yes, if I’m unhappy that Britney’s pussy is being flashed all over town, I don’t have to look at the pictures. Yes, true. This is an attitude that many take. But, what about our kids!

Now, what’s even more disturbing, as LaTosha, I believe, indicated, is where do we go from here?

The celebrity nip slips are totally mainstream. And, we see that Britney’s initial forays into voyeuristic intentional wardrobe malfunctions started with the (now seemingly innocent lol) nip slip. Sort of reminds one of the inaccurate theory that marijuana was the gateway to harder drugs… lol … well, for Britney, the nip slip was her joint, and, she’s graduated to the big leagues.

Now, some readers have noticed that I have no problem with the nip slips, and, I’ve written extensively about the silliness behind the forbidden nipple. I still stand behind that position, and, once again, I consider it absurd that extreme violent content is acceptable on television while a female nipple causes pandemonium. In response, there’s just a fundamental difference between a nipple and a pussy.

Now, in the article that I link to, it asks the question that’s been asked on this site: where do things go from here? The nipple’s been slipped out. Now, Britney’s probably started the bandwagon rolling on the celebrity pink wink. It’ll be interesting to see which female celebrity “forgets” her panties and uncrosses her legs next. Any bets? I’d put my dough on Lindsay Lohan, but, we’ll always have Paris.

So, where do I predict things will go from here? Actually, I’m pretty certain that I know, though, it’s an awful thought. It’s going to be the celebrity anus shot. And, you can be reasonably sure that in the not-too-distant future, smutty websites will have sections called Celebrity Assholes. And, yes, there are plenty of celebrity assholes lol, but, I’m talking about the literal part of the anatomy.

So, what can we as Christians do? And, not just as Christians, because, I don’t want to be divisive … simply, what can we as caring parents do? Well, how about nobody buys any Britney Spears’ cds, posters, anything… How about everybody prays for Britney? How about everybody prays for the world. That’s the best I’ve got.
