Rosie O’Donnell: We Don’t Want To Grasp Your “Humor”!
Oh, boy, you’ve read about Rosie O’Donnell’s anti-Chinese racism … you read the incredibly weak little explanation on her blog.
And, now, according to The New York Post the Asian-American Journalists Association have released a statement:
“We consider this a mockery of the Chinese language and, in effect, a perpetration of stereotypes of Asian-Americans as foreigners or second-class citizens. The use of the distorted phrases is insulting to the Chinese and Chinese-Americans, and gives the impression that they are a group that is substandard to English-speaking people.”
To which Rosie’s rep responds:
“She’s a comedian in addition to being a talk show co-host. I certainly hope that one day they will be able to grasp her humor.”
And, you’ve added a further layer of insult by so glibly dismissing the whole matter: the suggestion is … “Rosie’s a comedian, and, your offense has no validity… the problem’s not with Rosie… it’s with your humor comprehension skills and perhaps you’ll be intelligent enough to understand Rosie’s humor some day…” Rosie, read carefully:
Annh Annh… Don’t Think So
Rosie O’Donnell and rep, read carefully. We don’t want to grasp your humor. Your humor is racist and sick.
I will not be grasping your offensive “humor” any time soon, and, I pray to God that I never understand your “humor.” There is nothing humorous about belittling 1.3 billion people. And, I’ll let you in on a little secret: By not conceding a mistake, you are giving this story legs… real legs… I was upset that it wasn’t getting enough media play, and, believe me, I follow all celebrity acts of bigotry and racism quite carefully… this story was going to die… well, it’s now taking off. And, this is what I enjoy best: adding a little snow to the snowball that’s going down a hill about to collide with a celebrity whose too stubborn to simply say, “I used poor judgment. And, I’m sorry.”
Rosie, give your rep a bonus. (And, readers help us determine if Rosie’s rep is the same Cindi Berger who made offensive anti-American remarks..)
And, of course, the other layer of irony, as we and others have pointed out, is how hyper-sensitive Rosie is at slights to the gay and lesbian community. When Rosie in her grand delusion imagined homophobia on the part of Kelly Ripa, I wish Kelly would have said,
“You just don’t grasp my humor… you fat cow! ha ha! what, you’re offended? Why?! I guess you just don’t grasp my humor… you gay blimp.. ha! ha! right? Why do you look so angry? It’s my humor! Oh, you don’t grasp my humor… well, I hope you do some day… fatso… ha ha!”
