Nicole Richie DUI
It seems Nicole Richie was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (violating California Vehicle Code Section 23152a) this morning at 4:50 A.M. in Glendale, California. Nicole was released 7:15 A.M. by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. on $15,000 bail.
Nicole’s SUV is reported to have been traveling the wrong direction on the 134 freeway in Burbank.
Agent John Balian indicates that Richie was “booked without incident and was cooperative.” The booking sheet also indicates that Nicole is 5′1” and 85 pounds, which, again reminds of Nicole’s “inability to gain weight,” which many classify as an actual eating disorder.
So, those are the details (as we currently know them)… driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs … so, I’ll take this as an opportunity to discuss the hazards of alcohol (in particular), which has ruined so many lives, which nearly ruined my life, and, which we, collectively as Americans, still view in an overly casual way: this was evidenced by Danny DeVito’s recent View drunkenness. And, I’d also like you to read about alcohol and women please.
Now, back to Nicole… It would appear from the many news sources over the past year, that Nicole Richie has a few problems.
And, that’s a really sad thing, because, the girl’s got so much going for her, including perhaps one of the most sensitive and wonderful dads in the world! Lionel Richie is a breast cancer activist. What a wonderful man! Now, I don’t mean to get off-topic here; my intention is just to say that young Nicole Richie has a lot going for her…
But, she just doesn’t seem like a very happy young lady, and, this behavior is self-destructive. She in many ways reminds me of myself. I am now sober, all praise to Jesus Christ, but, I am an alcoholic, and, alcohol did nearly ruin my life. It’s so important to remember, though, that alcohol doesn’t have to control you. It is possible to stop abusing alcohol.
I always found Nicole to be quite likable, and, she will be in my prayers. I truly hope that the media treats Nicole Richie with sympathy.

update: it appears according to tmz that Richie was not under the influence of alcohol, admitting to the police that she had swallowed a few Vicodins and puffed a bit of pot. It also seems her lawyer is Howard Weitzman. Now, is it just me or is Howard an incredibly popular first name for lawyers?
