Denise Jackson
Well, the new season of American Idol is underway, officially… actually, it’s on right now. And, I’m going to be writing some American Idol essays because Idol provides an interesting gateway to celebrity status. Ridiculous? Yes, often, but…
And, it’ll be fun to follow a few of these contestants.
One thing we’ve seen is that America likes to pull for an underdog. We saw this last year on Idol with the blond country girl Kelly who had the hard luck story. She may not have had the most talent, but, she had that back story with the Pa in jail etc. and that really resonated with America.
Now, that having been said, a lot of people don’t trust American Idol at all: they think the whole thing is rigged. Well, American Idol is, unequivocally, fixed; but, not in the shady way that some folks suggest. I think the voting is on the level.
American Idol is fixed in the way it’s edited together. We already see that the producers like this first episode American Idol contestant Denise Jackson. They gave us the interview where she says she was a crack baby and wows us with her maturity. Now, I really don’t want to sound cynical, but, it’s tough.
Here are a few comments that the judges made to Denise.
“Pretty powerful. Pretty adorable.” Paula Abdul
“You did everything right.” Simon Cowell
Oh, heck, this other girl’s asking Ryan Seacrest if he has a girlfriend.. ha ha .. then she asks him if he likes Spanish girls…. another ha ha … honey, this is Ryan Seacrest.
A couple annoying things about this episode so far… first, Jewel is a guest judge, and, she seems to have such a damn permanently patronizing expression with the strained and irritating quarter grin. And, why the hell is the left-hand door locked?
