Okay, first off, let me say that last night I finally came to really appreciate American Idol Six contestant Gina Glockson. And, I apologized for my initial big and angry impression.

What’s become obvious is that Gina has an extraordinary talent. I also got an email from Julia. I’ll paste part of it in here:

Skippy, do you realize how retarded you are? While you’re jizzing your shorts over Alaina Alexander and especially the skanky nobody Antonella Barba’s ass, you’re insulting the hottest girl in the competition… yeah, Gina Glockson! You are a fucking, no-taste idiot. Fuck you, Julia.

Okay, first, Julia, thank you for the kind words! And, yeah, you’re right: I consider Antonella and Alaina to be the two finest women that have ever appeared on American Idol. You no doubt are probably pretty taken by Carrie Underwood, but, see, she’s just way too bland and boring for me. I like a girl that’s got a little spice to her. And, yeah, I’m way sad to see Alaina go, but, did you see the classy way she left the program. And, when she was a little too choked up to sing, yeah, I felt a little choked up too! So, um, fuck you Julia.

Now, if you read the other post, you’ll see I said that Gina is both beautiful and incredibly talented. Is Gina as beautiful as Antonella or Alaina? Why, hell no… but very few women are… Nonetheless, Gina’s got a lot going for her, and, suffice to say, she’d never, I’m sure, give me the time of day. And, that’s fine… but, see, when these men and women voluntarily put themselves into the public spotlight, they open themselves up to all sorts of critiquing… and, that’s fair and fine!

If I were up there and being watched by millions of people, I have no doubt that I would be getting thoroughly scrutinized as well, and, that just goes with the territory.

Now, with all of that having been said, please indulge me when I hypothesize about one possible Gina Glockson American Idol strategy.

Now, I will say right off the top that this is only a theory, and, I have no way of proving this. It is not intended to be slander, and, I am typing it here because I consider it to be a reasonable speculation.

Okay, let’s begin with the Glockson speculation…

First of all, it’s clear that Gina’s in it to win it. Now, all of the contestants would like to win, certainly, but, if you compare Gina to, say, Sanjaya, there’s obviously a pretty different level of commitment! After all, we see that Gina’s home town is Naperville, IL; yet, she auditioned all the way down in Memphis… that’s quite a distance folks! That’s quite a desire! And, in a rather ballsy way, we saw Gina perform Heart’s classic “Alone,” and, many of us remember that Carrie Underwood absolutely ruled that song!

Ah, Gina, what are you trying to communicate? “Look at me. I’m Gina Glockson. I can out sing Carrie Underwood!” Ah.. but, Gina, you can’t. Now, I can’t stand Carrie Underwood, but, you Gina are no Carrie Underwood!

In addition, isn’t this Gina’s second time trying out? And, she was in a band called Cat Fight? That’s right… Cat Fight! Now, just what the hell’s that all about!

Now, there’s been something about Glockson that’s made me suspect all along. And, it’s not just the strange name of Glockson which makes me think of a ghetto gun manufacturing company. It’s interesting to note just how rare the name Glockson is… My research cannot conclusively determine the ethnic origin of this name. And, that, quite frankly, gets my Spidey sense tingling a bit!

Furthermore, her musical favorites include U2 and Green Day. C’mon now! : ) Seriously, though, Gina says that her goal in life is “to be rich and famous!” There you have it explicitly. It seems to me that somebody who outright states her goals are money and fame would conceivably go to great lengths to achieve these ambitions. And, more on that later… we’re getting there.

But, first, some of the other things that make me a bit suspicious about Ms. Glockson. Yes, that’s right, the strange hair style: those red streaks. That makes me say, “Hmmmmmmmm.” What’s that all about? Most of us agree that we use our appearance to project an image: in some cases, to make a statement. It seems to me that the red streaks (and three tattoos) are a sort of subconscious desire to warn the world: watch out for me…. see, deep down, Gina’s a good person and aware of her nature, but, she just can’t help herself… that desire for fame and money! Oh, Celebrity Satan!

So, what am I really getting at? Well, thank you for bearing with me, because, I do think this analysis is worthwhile. You see, when I saw the emotional level of Gina Glockson’s reaction tonight to the four Idol eliminations, you know, it just seemed a little too extreme to me.

Is this an unreasonable way for me to feel?

Well, let’s consider the situation just a bit. You see, American Idol is obviously a singing competition, and, needless to say, people are going to be eliminated. I mean… there’s no secret there. Right? And, furthermore, presumably each contestant wants to win, so, there is going to be perhaps an emotional medley response to an elimination, but, let’s be honest… the survivors are going to feel at least some joy. After all, the other guy or gal is gone, and, they’re still standing. They still have a chance to win! So, yes, there is some serious schadenfreude involved with the American Idol experience.

So, when I saw Gina’s effusive response, it got me suspicious. Let’s take a look at a few Gina Glockson picture reactions to put my hypothesis into context.

Okay, so what am I saying here? Simple: American Idol is a fun and emotional show… true. And, Gina Glockson is laying it on thick with the tears to get future votes. Everybody watching is thinking,

“What a nice girl Gina is! Look how upset she is about the other contestants being eliminated. I really like this nice Glockson girl! I’m going to vote for her!”

Yep, I’m not buying it Gina! I know what you’re selling, and, I don’t like it!

Don’t con me Glockson!

Could I be wrong about all of this? Of course, but, my intuition is often correct.

Now, I know somebody’s thinking that other contestants were emotional as well. And, that’s true. Take a look at pictures of Jason Sundance Head balling his eyes out below.

And, check out this photo of Jordin Sparks turning the waterworks on:

So, what’s the difference? Well, for me the emotion of Sundance and Jordin is believable. And, yes, for Gina Glockson it’s not. It just seems too thick, too self-conscious, too phony. And, I can’t prove that, but, you know, so be it… There ain’t nothing like the real thing.

And, I’ll tell you what I did find believable in this top 20 results show. I believed the emotional reaction of Alaina Alexander. Hell yea I do. She was getting the boot. Those tears were real.

Wow, Alaina’s so damn beautiful … sorry to see her go.

What else did I find real? Well, Kelly Pickler’s ass was quite real! Yummy! And, she did make a point of showing that new-and-improved, sweet thing off (and Ryan pretended to be interested of course.) Damn, that’s a beautiful ass!

Yeah, I guess that about sums it up. I’ll take Kelly Pickler’s ass over Gina Glockson’s (suspected) crocodile tears any day.
