Will Smith Apology
Well, as if you didn’t already know it… our so-called first amendment is one tricky futhermucker.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
That may be so… but, be damn warned that although you may be free to express yourself… loonies are free to take your expression and go insanely bonkers.
We saw this recently with the Will Smith Hitler remarks. And, while there was nothing racist or bigoted or hateful in what Smith said… he still showed himself to be an incredibly naive man amazing unaware of how America works.
Well, he seems to have come to his senses and is doing what any good American superstar actor would do who wants the paychecks to keep flowing. He’s apologizing like hell.
You know… I wish somebody just had the balls to stand up and say, “You folks are unreasonable to the extreme. Your logic is faulty. And, I am not going to apologize where no apology is warranted.”
Well, not today. Smith said,
“It speaks to the dangerous power of an ignorant person with a pen. I am incensed and infuriated to have to respond to such ludicrous misinterpretation. Adolf Hitler was a vile, heinous vicious killer responsible for one of the greatest acts of evil committed on this planet.”
And, Abraham H. Foxman is happy.
We welcome and accept Will Smith’s statement that Hitler was a ‘vicious killer’ and that he did not mean for his remarks about the Nazi leader to be mistaken as praise. Once Smith realized that his remarks may have been misunderstood, he took immediate steps to clarify his words and unequivocally condemn Hitler as an evil person.
Bravo. All is well in the world. It’s all daisies and rainbows and there aren’t thousands of kids getting killed and maimed in the desert and there’s a ham in every pot and a candy cane in every stocking.
