Mike Huckabee: I Just Don’t Get It
My colleague Katie likes to talk about the realm of political celebrity, and, I know some of my other colleagues have written about Barack Obama. American politics is an interesting and unavoidable spectacle, because, in brief, it’s necessary to appeal to a lot of people who have a very interesting (strange) way of looking at the world.
For example, I saw on CNN tonight that Mike Huckabee was out campaigning in Iowa. I’m trying to remember a more bland individual I’ve seen in recent memory. Anyway, Mr. Huckabee was obviously trying to appeal to Iowa sensibilities and show off a little fabricated macho cock, so, of course, a photo video op was orchestrated of Mr. Huckabee out hunting pheasant.
Wow. I am impressed. I’m suddenly feeling very swayed to Mr. Huckabee. I mean… c’mon guys… he was out shooting birds!
At one moment of CNN’s segment, they showed three dead shot pheasant on the ground. Mr. Huckabee said (essentially),
“These three birds said they would not vote for me.”
Now, I’m not sure whether that qualifies as humor or not; but, the intimation that one will shoot and kill entities who don’t vote for him doesn’t particularly get a laugh out of me.
Frankly, it disturbs the hell out of me. I mean… this individual is putting himself on the world stage with the motivation to lead the free world, and, he’s got a stupid hat, shotgun, dead birds, and a disturbingly warped sense humor.
I feel like I’m in a Twilight Zone it’s all just so unbelievably stupid.
