Well, to get some hint at this we can look at Max Weber who, as usual, seems to have something poignant to say which can be applied to so many different contexts. Weber basically thought that modern capitalism would erase the concept of social status. However, being a sociological dyanamo, he suggested that there might develop a unique version of status… a type of honor status.. and, indeed, it is helpful to look at celebrity as just that… a unique, honor status.
A very special honor status because it’s uber accelerated. You can make a celebrity in an evening. And, nearly as quickly they can vanish…losing their access to the media and the public fantastic imagination. Celebrity, conceptually, exists like nothing else. Celebrity, as a status group, bears such a special relationship to modern capitalism!
Weber felt that status groups (in this case celebrity) would decrease with modern capitalism and that economic class would occupy that position. People think he was wrong. He was right… it’s happening right now but people can’t see it. It relies upon saturation and complete exposure of the rancid core of celebrity culture (that is signified by the celeb fuck videos!) Can you see that?
What we have seen in the 20th century (the century when the concept of celebrity originated… thank you Hollywood scum) is the new celebrity status usurping the glorified knight class: even though colonial America didn’t have knights, per se, the idea still holds because it was the knight concept which still infected the weltanschaaung of that period. Weber said that high status culture is disgusted by bargaining… and so it shall be… it is the commoditization of absolutely everything (think Marx) that has rendered absolutely everything for sale!
Can you see that? The celebrity sex tapes are the epitome and greatest triumph of that which will repulse the new, high status culture which will usurp this obscene and artificial status group of the singular celebrity concept! Because things must get so absolutely tasteless to galvanize the ruling class back to its proper place…and, stay with me.. this part gets tricky… because the new ruling class will be a proletariat class that is so absolutely revolted by celebrity culture…
The culture, as I was saying, in which absolutely everything becomes a commodity… so, they seize their own greatest treasure… they have seized what they worship… the celebrity… and vitiated their God by the most absolute and vile means… but, they don’t even realize it… the middle class doesn’t even realize that they are playing a large part in the demise of capitalism. That’s where things become so fascinating and interesting. Although the proletariat (current scum class), in Marx’s vision, were to bring about a violent overthrow… there will be no violence… and it will unwittingly be done by this dumb middle class: for they are the ones who have created celebrity worship culture!
And, their pathology has created the commodity, which they must commodify to the abolute core… that’s what the celebrity sex videos for sale represent! These sex tapes are truly bringing the decline of the celebrity status group as modern capitalism progresses. The ultimate commodity! Everything about the celebrities must be possessed. We, pathologically, must even possess animated frames of their bodies in motion… their tits, pussies, asses, dicks, tummies… all on video tape… all made available on the internet. Our worship can only be fulfilled by owning their very procreative, sexual acts… that’s to say their celebrity fucking… celebrities fucking celebrities on video… who would have thought that this would bring the end of modern capitalism???

But, Marx would be surprised that the elite, celeb ruling class actually performed an overthrow on themselves with the help of, yes, the middle class scum; while the working class were watching the football game while drooling Miller High Life in their peanut laps.

There is simply an assimilation (facilitation) of the middle class scum through their appropriating act (buying the sex tapes).
